Ravens Draft

April 30th 2012 01:57
I thought I would write a report on the Baltimore Ravens 2012 NFL draft. One of my friends from the online world of Smackdown vs Raw 2011 is a big Ravens fan. I spend all my time on there getting my butt kicked by kids who don’t believe I am 42 years old. My addiction has cut into my writing time here and at the other sites I work for but that’s ok.

I really, really like the Courtney Upshaw pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Raiders. That vaunted Ravens defense is getting a little long in the tooth and Upshaw will give them some pep in their step.

The Ravens looked for defensive help and offensive linemen which I felt was good for them to do. Running back Bernard Pierce and wide receiver Tommy Streeter were the only skill offensive position picks. Pierce will help out as a rookie but the very raw Streeter will be a practice squad player unless he excels at special teams.

Of course you can’t grade a NFL draft for two years at least to see how the players pan out in the league. But at first look I give the Baltimore Ravens a B for their 2012 NFL draft.

I was a little surprised to learn that Peyton Manning is installing the Colt’s offense in Denver. I am a Panthers fan and know John Fox loves a ball control offense and hates the passing game. Of course if Jake Delhomme is the best quarterback you ever coached then maybe you would hate the pass as well.

Of course Peyton Manning probably wouldn’t have come to Denver if he couldn’t install his system. I think signing Manning was in part to get him and in part to get rid of Tebow without a backlash from Tebomaniacs.

Last year the Broncos feared an injury to Tim Tebow because the backup quarterbacks couldn’t run the spread. This season the team will fear an injury to Manning because the backups suck and don’t know this offense. Though it would be easier for them to run the Colt’s no huddle than the spread.

Jaguars should trade for Tim Tebow

March 22nd 2012 01:02
The Jacksonville Jaguars should up the ante in their trade offer to the Broncos for Tim Tebow. Earlier today it appeared that Tebow would be a Jet after a trade. However the Jets then realized that in Tebow’s contract was a clause saying his new team had to pay the Broncos about $5 million in past salary paid to Tebow. The Jets then backed out of the trade.

The Jacksonville Jaguars need to fill seats and Tim Tebow can do that. The Jaguars should offer up to a third round draft pick for Tim Tebow. Apparently the Jets are still interested if another deal can be worked out. But Jacksonville needs Tim Tebow and he clearly wants to return to Florida.

Former Miami Dolphin Chad Henne has been brought in to backup Blaine Gabbert who was the Jaguars first pick last season. Still room can be made for Tim Tebow even if he has to switch positions. Tebow would bring some buzz to the Jaguars and put them in the national spotlight.

Sean Payton suspended for one year!

March 22nd 2012 00:33
New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton has been suspended for one full season without pay and General Manager Mickey Loomis has been suspended for eight games. Former Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams is suspended indefinitely and Saints Assistant Head Coach Joe Vit for six games.

Sean Payton has been suspended by the NFL for trying to cover up a bounty system used by the Saints defense. Saints coaches and players were involved in placing bounties on opposing quarterbacks Brett Favre, Cam Newton and Kurt Warner and possibly others

Saints Bounty System

March 5th 2012 13:57
The New Orleans Saints had bounties on opposing players from 2009 to 2011 under a program by then defensive coordinator Greg Williams. That bounty system apparently follows Williams from team to team and will probably get him suspended for quite a while.

New Orleans head coach Sean Payton knew about the bounties and they clearly helped the Saints win the Super Bowl a few years back. Brett Favre of the Vikings and Kurt Warner of the Cardinals were injured in the playoffs that year by Saints players hunting bounties

Randy Moss coming out of retirement

February 14th 2012 12:42
Randy Moss wants to come out of retirement in 2012 at the age of 35. As a matter of fact Moss announced on his 35th birthday that he wanted to come out of retirement and hinted at wanting to return to New England.

Randy Moss last played in 2010 and with three different teams due to his attitude getting him traded or released by the Patriots and Vikings before ending up with the Titans. Randy Moss ended up with 28 receptions for 328 yards and 5 touchdowns during his last season

Give Tom Coughlin some respect

February 6th 2012 14:47
Its time to give Tom Coughlin some respect! The much maligned coach has a 8-3 record in the playoffs and has won two Super Bowls over the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick who most consider the best coach in the NFL.

New York is rough on their sports teams and coaches and it seems like every time people call for Tom Coughlin to be fired, he wins a Super Bowl with a less than great team. Of course the maturing of Eli Manning helped out with that but Tom Coughlin is a great coach

2012 NFL Hall of Fame Class

February 5th 2012 14:34
Curtis Martin heads the 2012 NFL Hall of Fame class and rightfully so. It was the year of the lineman however for the 2012 Hall of Fame induction class. Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy Dermontti Dawson and Willie Roaf were all added to the Hall of Fame Steelers cornerback Jack Butler joined Martin as the only non linemen in the 2012 NFL Hall of Fame Class.

Is Eli better than Peyton?

February 4th 2012 17:24
Eli Manning may be considered a better quarterback than Peyton if he wins his second Super Bowl this weekend. I don’t care if Eli Manning wins four Super Bowl rings I don’t think he will be better than Peyton Manning.

To set the record straight I am hardly a Peyton Manning fan but I know greatness when I see it. As a matter of fact we may not really know how great Peyton Manning really was. He may have been so good that he carried a bad team into the playoffs every year and even won a Super Bowl with them

Peyton Manning cleared to play

February 2nd 2012 23:21
Peyton Manning has been cleared to resume his NFL career by his doctors. But there is a catch, his neck is healed but his arm is not. So as far as Manning’s neck he can play but only if he can get his arm back in shape to play.

That Peyton Manning has been cleared could be big news or it could be more ammo in his escalating war with the Colts. Keep in mind Peyton Manning has nerve damage to his passing arm and is no spring chicken
