Reflections on week 2
September 21st 2009 14:26
Week two was a bad week for me as far as my football predictions went, as I missed 9 games. But it was a pretty good week for the NFL as far as quality of game play goes. Here are my reflections on week two of the 2009 NFL season.
The Jets are drinking Rex Ryan’s kool aid and their defense is awesome. Rookie quarterback Sanchez is doing just enough to win. The Jets knocking off the New England Patriots was a huge upset.
The Patriots got old fast on defense but the rebuilding of that unit is already underway. Look for the team to be playing much better in a few weeks.
I really, really like Jay Cutler in Chicago despite his poor play in week one. Get his young receivers a little time and the Bears offense could be great.
The Carolina Panthers have no fire and are flat. They did play well in a loss to Atlanta but I don’t seem them winning more than 6 or 7 games this season. Jon Beason the Carolina linebacker made a special point to say the game would be “Special-and a street fight” for him on WFNZ’s Primetime with the Packman late last week. Beason ended up with 6 tackles. The Panthers need to shut up until they beat somebody.
Tony Gonzalez is still the man and is making the Falcons offense run on a higher level. As a Chiefs fan it saddens me to see him in another uniform but I hope he gets a ring.
