Al Davis (July 4, 1929 – October 8, 2011) has passed away and love him or hate him, Davis was a NFL legend and icon. It is a shame that in his later years Al Davis had become a parody of himself.
The Raiders used to be a top team year in and year out with a band of misfits who nobody else could handle. “Just win baby” was what they did. Al Davis also did much for the NFL that he later feuded with for years.
Al Davis was a scout, football coach, AFL Commissioner and ultimately owner of the Oakland Raiders. Davis was known for his love of team speed, the long ball and thumbing his nose at the NFL.
