Jon Beason fined $5,000
November 21st 2008 23:25
Carolina Panthers Linebacker Jon Beason announced today on WFNZ (Charlotte Radio Station) that he was fined $5,000 by the NFL for a facemask on Daunte Culpepper in the Lions game.
Jon Beason told “Primetime with the Packman’s” Mark Packer that he had gotten notification of the fine today. In discussing the fine with Packer and former New York Giant Cory Miller, Beason did not think he deserved the fine.
But Beason (a regular on the show) also offered to try to get the NFL to donate the money to a charity that Packer is involved with to raise food for local food kitchens.
I think the NFL is getting too carried away with fines for playing good defense. I can see it if it was intentional but this one wasn’t. The NFL is afraid people will think football is violent. Well duh it IS a violent sport. And putting dresses on players will make the league lose it’s appeal quickly.
