Ben Roethlisberger the face of a dirty franchise

April 12th 2010 14:46
Ben Roethlisberger is the face of a dirty franchise. The Pittsburgh Steelers will show concern over Ben being accused of Sexual Assault for the 2nd time but will do nothing about it. Yes I know Ben Roethlisberger will not be charged for the sexual assault case but he certainly shows bad judgment but the Steelers are a dirty franchise on the field and off the field probably won’t concern them either.

The Pittsburgh Steelers of the 70’s were on par with the Oakland Raiders in contention for being the dirtiest team in the NFL. Their defense was led by thugs and often used intimidation of officials and players to win their games. They went a whole Super Bowl against the Dallas Cowboys without a penalty despite trying to kill Golden Richards and Drew Pearson.

The Pittsburgh Steelers of 2010 has the dirtiest player in the league in James Harrison. When you have thugs on your roster you shouldn’t be surprised when they get into trouble off the field.

I am not a typical Steeler hater by any means. Jerome Bettis and Rod Woodson are two of my favorite players of all time. But to pretend the Steelers care about what their players do (as long as they don’t miss games) is kinda silly.

I have to agree! Although outward appearances my have changed since the 70's, not a lot has changed with the spirit of the team or the fans. As for Big Ben, I can't believe he's still a Steeler. The fact he's still around is a testament (or condemnation) of the fans and the front office. With 2 sexual charges and a motorcycle wreck I can only figure Roger Godell is being pressured to NOT look into matters.

That was a horrible post. There was a large lack of grammar and you fail to realize that intimidation is the job of a defense. Football is not a sport for the faint of heart. I take it that you are faint in heart. To call a team "dirty" because of one player who happens to be their star quarterback shows of someone with a lack of intelligence. "Thugs" oh come on. Plus, James Harrison is not a dirty player. Are you thinking of retired Rodney Harrison?

Thanks for the insults, they made my day. Nice to see you can't make a point without insulting me.

Wow, sorry. I guess I let my emotions take over as a big Steelers fan. You may have a point with the 70s stuff, and Roethlisberger finally deserves justice. Even still, I really think the word "Thugs" was misplaced. I also don't believe that James Harrison is a dirty linebacker. The insults were inexcusable and I am sorry for that. If this ever happens again, just remember that they are attacking the post and not you. Any sports blogger that isn't Duk is a good sports blogger. I will keep following your blog though, as I see a Panthers post and Carolina is my favorite team. I just feel some loyalty to Pittsburgh.

I am a Panthers and Chiefs fan. The Chiefs since the 1980's, the Panthers because I live in NC.

Funny that you "know" him, yet you fail to spell such an easy name right.
