Breaking down the 2010 wide receiver trades
April 18th 2010 22:00
Let’s break down the recent wide receiver trades, or diva swap as I call it. Recently Anquan Boldin, Ted Ginn Jr., Santonio Holmes and Brandon Marshall were all traded. I believe the Baltimore Ravens got the best player when they traded for Anquan Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals.
Anquan Boldin like Brandon Marshall was mad over his contract, unlike Marshall he didn’t behave like a baby though. Anquan Boldin is the one of the toughest wide receivers in the NFL but does get hurt a lot. However Boldin soaks up catches and is a clutch possession receiver and will help Joe Flacco take it to the next level in Baltimore.
Brandon Marshall is a rare talent and also quite the possession receiver though with a bit more speed than Anquan Boldin. Brandon Marshall acts like a punk on and off the field though and I expect he will pull an Albert Haynesworth and disappear after signing the new contract with the Dolphins. Miami is trying to keep up with the Jets and I think they did do better than getting Holmes.
Santonio Holmes has the talent to be the best wide receiver traded this off season. However he loves his drugs more than football and will serve a 4 game suspension at the start of the season.
Ted Ginn Jr. has raw blazing speed and the ability to take a kick return to the house. However he was a bust as a wide receiver, running poor routes and dropping multiple passes. I do think getting Ted Ginn for a 5th round draft choice was a good deal for the 49ers, for his kick returning alone.
