I just saw this on ESPNEWS for what it is worth. Shocking news is that Brett Favre is actually going to stay retired. For the record, he is a Hall of Fame Quarterback and that is something I'm not going to deny. He probably should get in and was known for a guy who never took a game off and played every game no matter what the causes were.
My thoughts are that it was necessary to do so. What else was there left for him to accomplish that he hadn't all ready done? There is nothing he could have proven to anyone else. Favre had to know his time was coming to a close and it was doing so in a hurry. If he had continued, it would have looked bad on him to not be able to perform at the level that some were used to.
Perhaps he should have retired before the season with the Jets and stay that way but it didn't happen that way now did it? Most likely, it'll be tough to break some of the records that he has obtained over the years. I think despite the drama that he put out there over the years, he has one thing going for him and that is being one of the greats. There won't be another Favre and that's fine.
Next stop for him is to get into the NFL Hall of Fame.
