Training Camp News

August 2nd 2009 14:42
There are a few things happening already with most of the NFL training camps just starting for 2009. I will go over some of what is going on with my stellar (yeah right) reporting skills.

The Minnesota Vikings have had some interesting quarterback developments. First they traded for Sage Rosenfels to compete with Tarvaris Jackson. Then they pursued wishy washy drama queen Brett Favre only to have number 4 turn them down at the last moment. Now Jackson had injured his MCL in what the team is calling a sprain. Jackson is expected to recover quickly but this is a setback for him.

Derrick Mason retired from the Ravens who brought in Drew Bennett to replace him. Bennett had an old injury flare up and retired himself. Now Mason has unretired and will play for the Ravens in 2009.

The Cleveland Browns spent all offseason trying to trade Braylon (drops more than he catches) Edwards. Now that camp has started the team is holding Edwards out of camp with an undisclosed injury.

Atlanta Falcon wide receiver Roddy White is holding out in a contract dispute after a break out season. White is under contract but can become a free agent after the season. I wonder how he would have reacted if after a bad season the team cut his pay?

The Photo of Roddy White used in this article comes from Wikimedia Commons and was taken by Brokensphere.

I got to spend the day at the 49ers training camp many years ago. It was lots of fun, even though I know nothing about football! My editor at the time must have been desperate to send me. LOL

That would be awesome. I was going to cover some of the Panthers camp but probably won't get down there this year. 3 hour drive and my car runs like our government. Costs lots of money with little return.

The 49ers were training at Sierra College in Rocklin, Ca. when I saw them. It was a short drive for me and I was familiar with the campus (having attended there some years earlier). 300 miles is a long ways to go!

Have you considered the Cash for Clunkers thing before they finish shutting it down? LOL

Yeah my GF tried to trade me in but they had standards to what they would accept!
