Can Dalton get respect!

When will ESPN and the NFL admit that there is another rookie quarterback out there that is actually playing as good as Cam Newton, and his numbers are very similar? Andy Dalton has quietly led the Cincinnati Bengals to a 6-3 record and has the Bengals tied for second place in the A.F.C. North.
When you look at statistics Newton and Dalton are very close, with each quarterback leading in category Newton’s stats read; 9 games, 197 completed passes on 327 attempts, which gives him a 60.2% completion ratio. Over 9 games Dalton has; 173 completed passes on 287 attempts for a 60.3% completion ratio. That gives the edge there to Dalton. Newton has passed for 2,605 yards with an average of 7.79 yards a pass, while Dalton has 1,886 passing yards for an average of 6.50 per pass. Advantage Newton.
Newton has 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions with 3 fumbles, while Dalton has 14 touchdowns, 9 interceptions and 1 fumble. Advantage Dalton.
Dalton in my opinion wins two of the three categories, but ESPN or the NFL will give Dalton any respect. This makes me wonder if the NFL and ESPN look at what the player has done for his team or what it does for the market.
I’m not saying Newton is not a valuable part of the Panthers team; I’m just making the point that Dalton is just as valuable and he’s putting up the same type of numbers. Dalton is just not getting the exposure that Newton is getting.
Remember Dalton took over a Bengals team going through turmoil with Carson Palmer wanting change and ultimately retiring. He lost both high profile wide receivers in Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens. He has been throwing to a rookie wide receiver all year long and has the Bengals in the mix of things in the AFC.
I like Cam Newton and I believe he will be an elite quarterback in the NFL but the Panthers are 2-7 with their wins coming against teams that are struggling. My question is; are we looking to promote players and award them on how far they lead their team or are we promoting players on how they can market the league?
