College Football Picks: Conference Championship Edition!!!
December 3rd 2009 14:35
This is it...Conference Championship Weekend. After this there will be no more debating about who should be in the national championship game...until after the national title game is announced. Anyhow this should be a fun weekend where champions will be crowned and hopes will be dashed.
Anyway, on to the picks.
Winner goes to the Rose Bowl:
#13 Oregon State at #7 Oregon:
The winner of this one will go on to face Ohio State in Pasadena...not to mention this may be the most heated rivalry in the Pac-10. This one will be a barnburner...I give the Ducks the edge...but don't bet the farm on it.
OSU 21 Oregon 27
Conference USA Championship:
#18 Houston vs East Carolina:
This is just one great opportunity to watch Houston QB Case Keenum as he continues to rack up yards and points. This is not a BCS championship game, but it should still be fun to watch, with the Cougars getting the job done.
Houston 38 ECU 17
#5 Cincinnati at #14 Pittsburgh:
This game is basically the Big East Championship. Cincinnati will be going to a BCS bowl regardless...but a win would secure it even tighter. Pittsburgh can recover from their loss to WVU with an upset over the Bearcats. I predict that Cincy gets it done...and still holds their argument for a national title appearance.
ACC Championship:
#25 Clemson vs #12 Georgia Tech:
With all the talk about Bobby Bowden at FSU dominating ACC headlines...lest we forget that there is a title game this weekend. Georgia Tech is beyond athletic...especially in the receiving corps. I predict that the athleticism wins out.
Clemson 17 GT 28
Big XII Championship:
#3 Texas vs #21 Nebraska:
Texas can see a national title date with either Alabama or Florida. There is just the business of the Big XII title game. I don't see the Longhorns stubbing their toe now.
Texas 42 Nebraska 10
SEC Championship:
#1 Florida vs #2 Alabama:
This is it. #1 vs #2, the rematch from last year, Tebow's last title game, Saban vs Meyer, with a spot in the national title game on the line. The country is abuzz with this game. I predict that the Gators get a hard fought bruising victory...and Tebow gets a shot at his 3rd national title.
Florida 20 Alabama 17
Those are my picks...this should be a fantastic weekend which will stir even more debate. Anyway...it should be a lot of fun.
Until Next Time,
Enjoy the Games
