College Football Picks Week 11
November 7th 2008 23:43
It was an exciting week in the college football world last week. Texas was knocked off at the last minute, Alabama was able to climb into the number one spot and Texas Tech leapfrogged the idle Penn State Nittany Lions. It is another exciting week...so lets get down to the picks:
#22 Georgia Tech at #19 North Carolina: This game is huge in the down ACC conference. Georgia Tech is coming off of a win over Florida State, and are in the drivers seat for the ACC title game and perhaps the BCS. This is a huge test for them...I say that they pass...just barely.
GT 24 UNC 21
Utah State at #9 Boise State: I am going to say it right now. Boise State will return to the BCS for the first time since their monumental upset over Oklahoma in 2007. Utah State is unfortunantly in the Broncos path.
Utah State 10 Boise State 31
#6 Oklahoma at Texas A&M: No one was happier to see Texas lose last week than the Sooners. They now have life in the Big XII...especially with a home game against Texas Tech on the horizon. They take care of business here
Oklahoma 35 Texas A&M 21
Baylor at #5 Texas: Poor Baylor, poor unlucky Baylor
Baylor 3 Texas 45
#21 California at # 7 USC: The Trojans are BCS victims...just ask Pete Carroll. This poses the biggest test left on their schedule. USC will not get into the national championship, but a BCS game would be nice. They are able to sneak by the bears.
California 21 USC 30
#3 Penn State at Iowa: The Lions cannot lose. They were taken over by Texas Tech so now they need help as well. Iowa poses the greatest test left on their schedule and a concussed Darryl Clark doesn't help. This is not the same Iowa team as 5 years ago and because of the I predict that the Lions get a close win
PSU 13 Iowa 10
#1 Alabama at #15 LSU: There are so many storylines that accompany this game. Not only is Alabama on top of every ranking...but this marks the return to LSU of Nick Saban, who bolted the Tigers for the NFL after leading them to a national title. LSU has been a dissapointment this season and view this game as their shot at redemption. That added emotion makes the difference.
Bama 21 LSU 24 (Quasi upset of the week)
#8 Oklahoma State at #2 Texas Tech: The Raiders are coming off of the greatest win in school history. They are now in position for the BCS title game...however it will not be easy. First the have the cowboys...then a battle with Oklahoma in Norman. They cannot slip up at all and they will not this week.
Ok St 17 Texas Tech 28
#12 Ohio State at Northwestern: Ohio State is holding out hope that they can sneak into a BCS game. They have the most exciting playmaker in the conference in Pryor, and they have the edge on paper. This year, the Buckeyes have been a disappointment while the Wildcats have been a pleasant surprise. They are coming off of a win at Minnesota where they scored on a pick six with 12 seconds left. They can smell a new years day game and this game could get them over the hump...it WILL get them over the hump.
Upset Pick Ohio State 24 Northwestern 31
