College Football Picks Week 12

November 14th 2008 23:34
This is a down week for college football. There are no real marquee match ups and the one that could qualify as one is very predictable. I will try to bang out an upset pick or two but this week in NCAA football will not be as great as the past few weeks have been.

With all that said, here are my picks:

#10 Ohio State at Illinois: Last year, the Buckeyes were undefeated and ranked #1 in all the land...until Juice Williams and the Fighting Illini made their way to Columbus and stole one from the Buckeyes. OSU will have revenge on their mind as well as the possibility of a BCS bowl still alive and well...with all that motivation they will get the job done.

OSU 28 Illinois 17

Indiana at #7 Penn State: The Lions went from national title hopeful to on the outside looking in after their trip to Iowa City last week. They still have the inside track to the Rose Bowl and the Big Ten championship. They have to win out...they will have no trouble with the fledgling Hoosiers

Indiana 10 Penn State 38

#4 Texas at Kansas: Kansas has come a long way down from their Fiesta bowl victory last year over Virginia Tech. Texas is still trying to move their way back into the national title picture. They need style points over a disappointing Kansas team...they don't get the style points, but they do get the win.

Texas 31 Kansas 27

#6 USC at Stanford: I think we all remember last years upset in the coliseum where Stanford came back and defeated the Trojans, effectively knocking them out of the national title picture. USC is whining about the BCS, so they need style points to have any hope of the national title game. I think they are headed for a showdown with Penn State in the Rose Bowl...oh and they get the win here, without style points.

USC 21 Stanford 20

#24 South Carolina at #3 Florida: This is the marquee game of the weekend. It will be emotional in the swamp as Steve Spurrier returns to Florida. Florida has to be guilty of looking ahead to their impending SEC title game with #1 Alabama. They also realize that this could be a statement game for them...however the Gamecocks will not go down without a fight.

South Carolina 14 Florida 24

Miss. St at #1 Alabama: Alabama is the better team...sometimes it is just that simple

Miss St 3 Alabama 38

Upset Picks!!!!...There are 4 this week

#13 Georgia at Auburn: Both of these teams are dealing with frustrating 2008 campaigns and they both view this game as a potential light at the end of the tunnel. Auburn wins...they are bowl eligible, Georgia wins...they can still go to a new years day bowl. My opinion...Auburn is going to a bowl

UGA 14 Auburn 24

#16 Brigham Young at Air Force: While BYU, Utah, and TCU have gotten all of the attention in the Mountain West conference, the Air Force Academy has quietly built an 8-2 record. They decide to shake things up on Saturday

BYU 21 Air Force 30

#17 North Carolina at Maryland: UNC is looking up at Virginia Tech for a spot in the ACC championship game...likewise Maryland is looking up at Florida St. and Wake Forest for a spot in the ACC title game. Both of these teams need this game...the Terps get it.

UNC 17 Maryland 21

Boston College at #20 Florida State: I would have picked the 'Noles in a dismantling...had it not been announced Friday that FSU will suspend 5 wide receivers after an altercation in a night club left a female bystander injured. Of the 5 players that will sit out...3 have combined for 51 catches, 722 yards and 8 touchdowns. That's a lot of offense left on the bench...and the Eagles take advantage.

BC 21 FSU 10

Those are my picks for this week. Remember you can read my thoughts on various other subjects at entertainmentinsider.com.au

Until next week, enjoy the games!!!

I think Air Force is a very underrated team. I don't think they're Top-10 material but a REAL good team. Good call!
