College Football Picks Week 15: Conference Championship Edition
December 5th 2008 23:23
For Starters, I would like to apologize for missing last week's picks. It was the holiday and family took priority over my picks...again I apologize. We are fully within the eye of the BCS storm. Controversy is everywhere and with the bowls being announced on Sunday, it will bring weeks of turmoil to a stumbling and critical end. Now on to the all important picks for this week.
ACC Championship Game: #18 Boston College vs Virginia Tech: The ACC has been the most ridiculous conference to watch all season. No team ever wanted to take control and run away with it. However, I think that on a neutral field, the better team will win and go to a BCS bowl.
Boston College 28 Virginia Tech 24
Big XII Championship: #19 Missouri vs #4 Oklahoma: Due to Bob Stoops usual underhanded tactics of running up the score on inferior opponents, Oklahoma is officially number 2 in the BCS and is now in the drivers seat for the national championship. Texas should be in this game for the sole reason that they beat Oklahoma on a neutral field. This is the problem with the BCS. As for this game, Missouri would like to avenge their loss to Oklahoma in last year's championship game that knocked them out of the BCS altogether. Oklahoma is simply too talented for that to take place.
Oklahoma 45 Missouri 21
SEC Championship: #1 Alabama vs #4 Florida: The whole country seems to believe that this is Florida's game to lose. Not only is this game for the SEC championship...it is for a spot in the National Championship. Florida has an offense that is rivaled be few in college football. However, Alabama is undefeated, well coached, and has earned one impressive victory after another. This game will be an absolute classic...and I am going against the odds-makers...Roll Tide.
Alabama 31 Florida 30
#5 USC at UCLA: USC needs to win this game against the rival Bruins in order to win the Pac-10 and set up a showdown with Penn State in the Rose Bowl. Truth be told, I don't think that the Trojans want to go to the Rose Bowl...but its better than nothing.
USC 45 UCLA 14
Those are my picks for this final and crucial weekend in the college football regular season. Forgive me sermonizing, but I hate the BCS and the manipulation of certain teams of the system (cough Oklahoma cough). I will be back with my bowl predictions in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
Until Next Time,
Enjoy Conference Championship Weekend!!!
