College Football Picks: Week 6

October 10th 2009 06:04
After my miscalculation of the Missouri-Nebraska game, yours truly has quite a bit of egg on my face. However, I will not incorrect predictions stop me from posting (obviously...I'm not that good at this). However, this site is about having fun with football and making the college football season more enticing. This week is an absolute barnburner with two top 5 teams squaring off.

Lets get down to the picks.

#17 Auburn at Arkansas:

Don't look now, but the Auburn Tigers are ranked. Not since a certain QB named Jason Campbell led them have they recieved such attention. This would be an obvious trap game, but I think the Tigers and their vaunted defense are for real...and they prove it by decimating the razorbacks.

Auburn 28 Arkansas 10

Iowa State at #16 Kansas:

I caught a Kansas game a few weeks ago and made a startling discovery...QB Todd Reesing is still in college!!! Is he going to be a doctor or something, I mean seriously. I predict that old man Reesing and the Jayhawks get a win over the outmatched cyclones.

Iowa State 16 Kansas 30

Boston College at #5 Virginia Tech:

The Hokies survived a scare against Duke last week to preserve their ACC title hopes. Now they get a more formidable opponent on paper...but the game is in Blacksburg, which makes a huge difference. I predict that it will be hard fought...but the Hokies get a win.

BC 21 VT 27

#13 Oregon at UCLA:

Don't look now, but the Ducks are on fire. They are the true challengers to USC's Pac-10 throne. With rumblings that their suspended RB Blount will be back by the end of the year, the Ducks have not begun to peak. Playing at UCLA will be a tough test...but the Ducks get it done.

Oregon 20 UCLA 16

Michigan at #12 Iowa:

Statistically, Iowa should not be 5-0...their offense is very weak and they have little to no running game. What they do have however, is a punishing defense that should be licking their chops after seeing a wounded Wolverine club come into Iowa City. I predict that Iowa gets the win...but it will be closer than it should be.

Michigan 18 Iowa 26

#22 Georgia Tech at Florida State:

Normally, this would be an ideal candidate for my upset pick of the week...except the fact that the FSU legacy is imploding before our very eyes. The Universities board members want legendary coach Bobby Bowden to hand over the reigns to assistant coach Jimbo Fisher and the whole thing is a mess...as will the Seminoles themselves as GT will pick up the scraps.

GT 24 FSU 7

Games of the Week!!!

#3 Alabama at #20 Mississippi:

Mississippi's QB Jevan Snead will view this game as his chance at redemption...a big game against a big time opponent with National Title Aspirations...Except that he is facing a big and mean Crimson Tide squad. This one will not be for the weak of heart...Bama gets the win.

'Bama 24 Mississippi 13

#1 Florida at #4 LSU:

Will he play or won't he? That has been the question surrounding Florida QB Tim Tebow all week and my prediction...he won't. LSU has not forgotten the 30 Point schellacking last year and will have revenge on their minds. Without Tebow, Florida is mortal...and I predict that LSU scores a minor upset.

Florida 28 LSU 31

Upset Picks of the Week!!!

#15 Oklahoma State at Texas A&M:

Mike Gundy may be a man...and 40, but that won't save his team from this trap game against an Aggie team that just got blown out by a medicore Arkansas team. I would usually pick OSU in a close one...but the controversy surrounding star WR Dez Bryant will negatively impact the team and allow A&M to score the upset

OSU 24 Texas A&M 28

Wisconsin at #9 Ohio State:

Wisconsin looked impressive last week entering the hostile environment of TCF Bank Stadium and handling the Gophers. I predict that they view this trip to Columbus as an opportunity to shine...and they sieze the moment.

Wisconsin 20 OSU 18

Those are my picks for this week, Disagree? then drop me a line at footballdogz.com or my personal page at Really Long Link

Until Next Week,
Enjoy the Games!!!

I'm still out to lunch on Auburn. This game will show if they're for real.
