College Football Picks: Week 7
October 10th 2008 22:31
First of all I would like to say that James, you didn't steal any of my thunder by commenting on college football. I welcome any other thoughts on the subject...just never do it again
Well on to the picks. This is one of the biggest college football weekends in recent history. We have the Red River shootout, A battle in the swamp, a potential upset in Columbia, and the fact that Ball State, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, and Michigan State are all ranked...in FOOTBALL!!! Lets get on to my attempt at accurate predictions:
#5 Texas vs #1 Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas TX: This is the game of the weekend, with easily the most history. The history of the Red River shootout brings names like Adrian Peterson, Troy Aikman, Ricky Williams, Vince Young. Now we have Texas' Colt McCoy vs Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. I give Bradford the edge...just barely
Texas 24 Oklahoma 27
#23 Michigan State at Northwestern: A couple of weeks ago, I predicted that Northwestern would finish at the bottom of the Big Ten. Well, I'll admit I was wrong. However, I also predicted that Michigan State would finish 5th in the conference, and I may be wrong about that too. The past few games between these two have been wild, but I give the Spartans and Javon Ringer the edge...just barely.
Mich St. 31 NW 28
#4 LSU at # 11 Florida: I'm sure that the Gators anticipated entering this showdown undefeated, but Ole Miss decided to spoil that dream. Florida knows that if they lose this one, they can kiss their hopes at a BCS birth goodbye. Well Pucker Up Mr. Tebow
LSU 21 Florida 10
# 17 Oklahoma State at # 3 Missouri: The Tigers are playing with a perpetual chip on their shoulder after the snubbing of the BCS last year. This is a potential trap game for them, but I predict that Chase Daniel will beef up his Heisman Resume with a big day and an impressive win.
Okla St. 14 Missouri 31
# 25 Ball State at Wester Kentucky: You read that right, Ball State is ranked in the college football top 25. The truth is that I know nothing about the Cardinals...but I also know nothing about the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. So I'm going with the ranked team.
Ball State 28 Western Kentucky 17
Notre Dame at # 23 North Carolina: Yep UNC is ranked in something other than basketball. As with Ball State, I know nothing about UNC's program, however I do know that Notre Dame are now earning the rightful reputation of being chokers in potential defining games. They will keep the tradition alive
ND 10 UNC 28
#6 Penn State at Wisconsin: Wisconsin is in unfamiliar territory. They are 0-2 in the Big Ten, but do have a game coming up with the Lions that can put them right back in the ball game. However JoePa has PSU on a mission. I predict that they have some trouble, but are able to squeak out a win.
PSU 24 Wisc 21
Colorado at #16 Kansas: Kansas is unfortunantly in the position of being on the outside looking in. They are looking up at 2 huge Big XII games with BCS implication that they are not involved in. I predict that they fall asleep at the wheel and let the Buffaloes escape Lawrence with the upset
My Upset Pick: Colorado 24 #16 Kansas 21
