College Football Picks: Week 7
October 17th 2009 14:32
Two huge rivalry games cap off this pivotal weekend in the college football season...along with the SEC powers trying to keep pace with the best teams in the country...AKA the rest of the teams in the conference.
It should be a wild weekend...it should be fun.
Arkansas at #1 Florida:
Florida used a subtle Tim Tebow performance and a punishing defense to escape Baton Rouge with a win over LSU. Now they face Ryan Mallett and the Arkansas Razorbacks, who are coming off a huge win against Auburn. Mallett helps keep it close, but the Gators take a close one.
Ark 27 Fla 31
Texas Tech at #15 Nebraska:
This battle of middle of the pack Big XII teams should be a shootout, with the Nebraska defense securing a win last week at Missouri...I predict the Cornhuskers continue the trend.
Texas Tech 31 Nebraska 41
#4 Virginia Tech at #19 Georgia Tech:
One of many battles between two ranked opponents...and an instrumental battle in the ACC race. Many consider Va Tech to be the best one loss team in the country...they still have national title hopes...and QB Tyrod Taylor gets it done today.
Va Tech 24 Ga Tech 14
#22 South Carolina at #2 Alabama:
Florida...you have a problem...and that problem is the Crimson Tide. They have a feared front four on defense and an interesting stat...WR Julio Jones has only 1 TD catch in his last 14 games...I expect a breakout today.
SCU 9 Alabama 31
#20 Oklahoma vs #3 Texas "The Red River Shootout"
Oklahoma has had a disappointing season thus far, with Sam Bradford's injury and two early season losses. Texas knows that it wont be easy, but if they win out they should be in the national title game. Everyone gets up for this rivalry game...and I say that QB Colt McCoy and the Longhorns get it done.
Oklahoma 17 Texas 30
Upset Picks of the Week!!! Upsets Galore!!!:
#11 Iowa at Wisconsin:
Iowa escaped with a win over Michigan last week...but that was in the friendly confines of Kinnick stadium...this week they go to Camp Randall where they meet punishing Wisconsin RB John Clay. I predict that the Badgers get it done.
Iowa 17 Wisconsin 28
#6 USC at #25 Notre Dame:
This game determines more than who wins the latest chapter in this rivalry. It also is about exorcising a demon for the Irish and saving Charlie Weis' job. I predict that QB Jimmy Clausen and the Irish get it up for this one and get the upset win in South Bend.
USC 24 Notre Dame 30
#17 Kansas at Colorado:
I know that the Buffaloes are only 1-4, but I just have this gut feeling that they score a huge upset of Todd Reesing and the Kansas Jayhawks. Don't ask me why...I just got a feeling.
Kansas 34 Colorado 37
