College Football Picks Week 8
October 18th 2008 01:32
Hello Football Fans,
I know that I haven't been so hot lately when it comes to my picks. Who could've predicted all of those Big XII underdog victories? I promise that this week, I will do better...well let's get on to it.
#22 Vanderbilt at #10 Georgia: The Bulldogs realize that a one-loss team will win the SEC, however they already have that loss after getting thrashed between the hedges by the surprise University of Alabama. The Dawgs have an uphill battle, and it begins Saturday.
Vandy 14 Georgia 27
#7 Texas Tech at Texas A&M: No one is talking about QB Graham Harrell, and no one is talking about the Red Raiders. In a conference with quarterbacks like Todd Reesing, Chase Daniel, Sam Bradford, and Colt McCoy, it is easy to get lost in the schuffle. The combination of Harrell and star WR Michael Crabtree will tear the Aggies to shreds and the Raiders won't be ignored much longer
Texas Tech 31 Texas A&M 10
Ole Miss at #2 Alabama: Poor Alabama...they were punished in the rankings for having a bye week. Ole Miss is the unfortunate team that drew the Wonka ticket in the 'Bama butt kicking lottery.
Ole Miss 10 Alabama 38
#16 Kansas at #4 Oklahoma: I have picked Kansas to lose as my upset pick several times in the past. Now they are the underdog against the Sooners. I am tempted to pick the Jayhawks...if they were not playing a team that just got embarassed on a nation stage.
Kansas 21 Oklahoma 34
#12 Ohio State at #20 Michigan State: This is the definition of a statement game for both teams. Michigan State has the best back in the conference in Javon Ringer...and OSU has the most exciting player on the field in Terrelle Pryor. I just have a gut feeling that the Spartans come up just a little bit short...just a little bit.
Ohio State 21 Michigan State 20
Michigan at #3 Penn State: The Wolverines pose the one demon that the Lions have been unable to shake in recent memory. A few years ago when PSU went to the Orange Bowl they had only one loss during the season...to Michigan. That was then...this is now.
Michigan 14 Penn State 31
#11 Missouri at #1 Texas: Without question this is the game of the weekend. Texas is coming off of the biggest win since their QB was named Vince Young and Missouri is coming off of a crushing defeat vs Oklahoma State. One more loss and the Tigers' national title hopes are over. That loss comes on Saturday.
Missouri 17 Texas 21
#13 LSU at South Carolina: South Carolina has one of the best defenses in the country, and LSU is coming off of a prime time humiliation against the Florida Gators. This one is a tempting upset pick...so thats why I'm going with it.
Upset Special: LSU 21 South Carolina 28
#17 Virginia Tech at Boston College: Virginia Tech did have some lofty expectations earlier this season. Those have since diminished. After their East Carolina debacle, they went 5-0. That streak ends in New England.
2nd Upset Special!!!: Virginia Tech 17 Boston College 24
