Paul Cuba's 1934 Eagles NFL contract
February 19th 2009 21:38
I recently was given a copy of a 1934 Philadelphia Eagle’s contract for a player named Paul Cuba. The contract was given to me by Paul’s grandson Terry Cuba, and I find it fascinating. According to Profootballreference.com Paul Cuba played in 29 and started 26 games for the Eagles at left tackle, from 1933 to 1935. It also says was 6ft tall and weighed 212 pounds! That is a small running back these days and he was a starting offensive tackle.
The 1934 contract offers Paul Cuba $100 a game but for games he started he got $115. The next time I hear of an NFL player holding out for more money I will email him a copy of this contract lol. Of course back in 1934 $100 wasn’t bad money at all. Special thanks to Terry Cuba for providing Footballdogz.com a copy of the NFL contract.
I am trying to get a photo of the contract up but am having problems changing the file into what I need to use on this site. When/if I figure it out I will have the photo up.
