David Cutcliffe to Tennessee?
January 15th 2010 02:30
David Cutcliffe is poised to be the new head coach at Tennessee, replacing Lane Kiffin who bolted to USC when Pete Carroll went to the Seahawks. I think David Cutcliffe will do very well as the new coach at Tennessee if he is hired. As you can see here I thought Cutcliffe should have been coach of the year at Duke.
David Cutcliffe has a great offensive mind and a knack for working with quarterbacks and he has coaching and recruiting experience at Tennessee. Coach Calhoun at Air Force and Texas defensive coordinator (and coach in waiting) Muschamp have already turned Tennessee down in their quest for a new head coach.
David Cutcliffe coached Peyton Manning as an assistant coach at Tennessee and Eli Manning as head coach of Ole Miss. It was lack of good quarterback play that kept Tennessee from having a good season under Kiffin in 09.
David Cutcliffe is a good fit at Tennessee and I hope they hire him to be their next head coach. Collegefootballtalk.com is reporting that details about David Cutcliffe’s staff are being ironed out before the announcement is made.
