Dallas Cowboys 2010 Draft Grade
June 13th 2010 13:01
Thanks for checking out my grade for the Dallas Cowboys 2010 NFL draft. Keep in mind that it takes two to three years to really evaluate a NFL draft and the full impact of players taken. If you are interested here is the draft analysis I did for the Dallas Cowboys after the 2009 NFL draft.
At the end of my analysis of the 2010 NFL draft for the Dallas Cowboys I will also post my draft grade for the Cowboys. Please feel free to leave a comment below and check out my other NFL articles by clicking my name. From time to time in this analysis of the 2010 NFL draft picks by the Dallas Cowboys, I will include links to other articles I have written about America's team.
Round one 2010 NFL draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys
Dallas traded up a bit to draft wide receiver Dez Bryant out of Oklahoma State. Dez Bryant clearly is the best wide receiver in the 2010 NFL draft, but he has attitude issues. He does not like slant patterns and there are major concerns about his off the field character. I like the pick in the sense that he was the 24th player taken and not a really high pick. Miles Austin came out of nowhere last year, as you can see here, to give the Cowboys a great wide receiver. The trade for Roy Williams apparently brought the Cowboys a bust, but I do like Williams in the red zone.
Dallas may indeed regret not drafting an offensive tackle with their first pick in the 2010 NFL draft, but they could have added Dez Bryant to the list of the best Cowboy receivers of all time.
Round two 2010 NFL draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys
Once again the Cowboys ignored offensive tackle to draft linebacker Sean Lee out of Penn State. I do like Sean Lee's versatility but I don't like the Cowboys ignoring their offensive line again.
Round four 2010 NFL draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys didn't have a third round draft pick in the 2010 NFL draft. I still am looking for a tackle but the Cowboys drafted cornerback Akwasi Owusu-Ansah out of Indiana (PA) to help their suspect secondary. If nothing else Akwasi Owusu-Ansah should help the return game and is big enough to be a special team's gunner.
Round six 2010 NFL draft picks by the Dallas Cowboys
Finally my Dallas Cowboys 2010 NFL draft analysis can include an offensive tackle. The Cowboys selected Sam Young a 6ft 8 tackle from Notre Dame. I like two things about Young, his size and the fact that he played in a pro offense at Notre Dame.
Also in round six the Cowboys drafted Jamar Wall a cornerback out of Texas Tech. Wall is a little on the short and slow side and it is special teams or bust with him at this point.
Round seven 2010 NFL draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys
In round seven America's team drafted defensive tackle Sean Lissemore out of William & Mary. Lissemore is a quick defensive tackle and may make the practice squad to let him learn for a year.
2010 NFL draft grade for the Dallas Cowboys
I give the Cowboys a B- for having the guts to possibly add a great wide receiver in Dez Bryan. I like that the Cowboys addressed defensive back but ignoring a tackle for so long hurt them in my draft analysis of the Cowboys. I don't see a possible addition to my list of the best Dallas Cowboys draft picks of all time.
