Breakdown and Predictions for the 2010 NFC Divisional Playoff Round
Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings
Breakdown of the Cowboys and Vikings 2010 NFL Playoff Game
Dallas ended the talk of a December jinx by beating previously undefeated New Orleans on the road. Then they ended the playoff jinx by whipping the Eagles in Dallas for the 2nd week in a row.
Felix Jones is on fire and Tony Romo has a new best friend in Miles Austin. The Dallas Cowboys offense looks good but the story here is the defense. Dallas ranks 4th in rush defense which does not bode well for Adrian Peterson. The Cowboys only rank 20th in pass defense but did very well in that department against the Eagles and Saints.
The 2009 Minnesota Vikings had the drama of Bret Favre joining the team late so he wouldn’t have to do training camp. They also had the drama of Brett Favre refusing to come out of games when the team tried to bench him. They also had the drama of 40 year old Brett Favre throwing for over 4,200 yard with 33 touchdown passes and only 7 interceptions.
Despite having the 2nd best running back in the NFL in Adrian Peterson, the Vikings are a passing team under Favre. The Vikings defense is good against the run but soft against the pass.
Prediction for the 2010 Vikings and Cowboys NFL Playoff Game
This will come down to a battle of the franchise quarterbacks, Romo and Favre. I feel both defenses will negate the running game of their opponents. I also feel that Adrian Peterson will fumble the ball because that is what he does.
Dallas has a better receiving group and will knock off the Vikings 27 to 24.
