Long time Philadelphia Eagle safety Brian Dawkins has joined a nice list of free agents who have signed with the Denver Broncos. Brian Dawkins will add an immediate upgrade to a poor Denver defense.
Earlier today on WFNZ “The Franchise” a sports radio station in Charlotte, former NFL player Brenston Buckner had this to say about Dawkins. “He is without a doubt a future NFL hall of fame player.” Something I agree with myself.
According to profootballreference.com Brian Dawkins played 13 seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles before signing with the Denver Broncos. Dawkins had 34 interceptions for 515 yards with 2 touchdowns. Brian Dawkins also had 16 fumble recoveries, 723 tackles and 190 assists.
Dawkins probably still has a productive season left in him and will be a nice field general for what may be a young Bronco defense in 2009. I think his signing a free agent contract with Denver may be more for his ability to help “coach” young players than anything else. But hell he should get at least 3 interceptions from playing the Oakland Raiders twice in 2009.
