Breakdown of the Eagles and Vikings Playoff Game
December 29th 2008 14:08
This breakdown and Playoff Prediction is for the Philadelphia Eagles at the Minnesota Vikings first round game.
The Philadelphia Eagles have made a big turn around from earlier in the season when they looked really bad, and are probably playing better than anyone in the NFL at this point. Donovan McNabb went from being benched for ineffective play, to playing like a All Pro in a couple of weeks time. The Eagles are the team nobody wants to play right now in the playoffs. Brian Westbrook is a beast in the running game or as a receiver and Correll Buckhalter is a very capable back as well. The fierce Eagle’s defense ranks 4th in the NFL in points allowed and are devastating to play against at times.
The Minnesota Vikings have also had their ups and downs and a Quarterback benching when Tarvaris Jackson was sat down earlier in the season. An injury to Gus Frerotte allowed Jackson to start again and he reclaimed his starter’s positions with stellar play. Adrian Peterson led the league in rushing with 1,760 yards and added 10 touchdowns. Bernard Berrian added huge playmaking ability to the Vikings Offense. Berrian averaged an amazing 20.1 yards per catch, in today’s dink and plink NFL that is awesome. The Vikings have an average defense at best but they do excel at stopping the run which is important in the NFL Playoffs.
I think the Eagles will roll all over the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2008 NFL Playoffs. The Eagles are just too hot right now and we saw with the Giants last year what momentum can do. Philadelphia will get an early lead and force Minnesota to pass more than they like. Tarvaris Jackson will not be as effective against the Eagles massive blitz package. If the Vikings abandon the run with Adrian Peterson like I think they will have to, then it’s curtains for them.
Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Minnesota Vikings by the score of 28 to 10.
