Rams a new team with a new coach
October 20th 2008 15:52
What a difference a new coach makes for some teams. Under Jim Haslett the St. Louis Rams have won their first two games. Considering that it is their first two wins of the 2008 season that is pretty impressive.
Haslett played linebacker in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, he was a tough player. He later worked his way up the coaching ranks and was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Haslett had a 46 and 51 won loss record with New Orleans.
He was the Rams Defensive Coordinator this season when head coach Scott Linehan was fired. Haslett reversed the benching of Mark Bulger for Trent Green. And the Rams are suddenly playing great football. They upset the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys in back to back weeks.
I don’t know if the Rams players hated Scott Linehan that bad and were laying down. Or if they like or fear Haslett too much and are playing better. I do know that if the Rams win 6 games (4 more) then Haslett’s contract states he becomes the full time head coach next season. A new coach would probably clean house and get rid of the players. If Haslett keeps the job he would probably be more loyal to the players who played hard the rest of this season. Either way this isn’t the same Rams team we saw earlier in 2008.
