Albert Haynesworth and Deangelo Hall sign with Redskins

Not shockingly the Washington Redskins have been the big spenders in 2009 NFL free agency so far. According to NFL.com the Redskins have signed former Tennessee Titan defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to a 7 year $100 million contract. They also resigned cornerback Deangalo Hall to 6 year $54 million deal.
Haynesworth is a huge gamble because he has only played one full NFL season due to injuries or suspensions. Albert Haynesworth has also been known to take plays off and not try very hard. It is funny how in his contract year Haynesworth exploded into a dominant NFL defensive tackle.
Tennessee had franchised tagged Haynesworth last season and he signed the contract with the understanding that he wouldn’t be tagged in 09. The following stats are from Profootballreference.com. In 2008 Albert Haynesworth had 8.5 sacks (very good for a defensive tackle) and 40 tackles plus 10 assisted tackles. For his career as a Tennessee Titan, Albert Haynesworth has 24 sacks and 200 tackles in 90 games played with 60 starts.
DeAngelo Hall had once been an Atlanta Falcon until they got tired of him. He played for a while with Oakland in 2008 after a monster contract with them. He wore out his welcome with the Raiders of all teams in less than a season and was released. He joined the Washington Redskins in mid season and played well enough to earn his new contract.
Former top notch cornerback Shawn Springs was released by the Washington Redskins to help make some salary cap room for these two free agent contracts. But the Skins are expected to rework some contracts to help make additional room under the cap.
