Injuries Cause Concern For Oregon State
November 26th 2008 22:11
On the verge of Oregon State's first Rose Bowl bid in 44 years, two key players may not play in the game that could clinch the berth. Add to the fact that this game is the "Civil War" rivalry game with Oregon - and you know there are a lot of nervous Beaver fans out there.
On Tuesday, Oregon State coach Mike Riley said he does not expect freshman running back Jaquizz Rodgers to play. Jaquizz has had a sensational freshman season for the Beavers, and is currently the Pac-10;s leading rusher (1,253 yards).
The second player in jeopardy of missing Saturday's game in Corvallis is starting QB Lyle Moevao. Last week Moevao stuggled with an injured throwing shoulder and missed the Arizona game. However, Riley seems to expect that Moevao will most likely be available for Saturday's contest. If Moevao cannot go, Sean Canfield will draw the start again.
Missing just one of these key offensive pieces would be cause for concern for the Beavers, as they will need everything they have to overcome Oregon in what should be a very emotional "Civil War" game - in which Oregon leads the all-time series 55-46-10.
