New York Jets at San Diego Chargers
Breakdown of the 2010 Jets and Chargers playoff game
It is hard to figure out the Jets who backed into the NFL playoffs, then beat the Bengals for the 2nd week in a row to advance. The Jets running game and defense can keep them in the game with any NFL team. The problem is rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez and his inexperience. However Sanchez did have a superb game against the Bengals.
The Jets could sure use some wide receiver help against the Chargers. Braylon Edwards drops too many passes. Look for Jones and Greene to continue to pound the ball to try to keep Phillip Rivers off the field. The Jets defense must pressure Rivers and not let him catch fire early. The Jets rank 1st in pass defense and 8th in run defense.
The 2009 San Diego Chargers quietly caught fire and didn’t throw games like the Colts. Despite having Ladainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles, the Chargers rank 31st in rushing. Phillip Rivers and the passing attack rank 5th in the NFL. That being said the Chargers must run the ball well to keep the Jets defense off of Phillip Rivers.
The Chargers defense will have to step up to stop the run for them to be the Jets in the 2010 NFL Playoffs. Currently San Diego ranks only 20th in stopping the run and that has to improve this week.
Prediction for the 2010 NFL Playoff Game between the Jets and Chargers
San Diego will try to mix in some runs with passing to keep the Jets from teeing off on Phillip Rivers. Sanchez will have to limit turnovers and 3 and out drives. My prediction is that San Diego will have more success and wins the game 24 to 17.
