Larry Johnson to the Bengals
November 17th 2009 01:45
Larry Johnson will be joining another former troubled running back in Cedric Benson on the Bengals roster. Johnson had trouble last season with not hitting women but the Chiefs kept him. This season Larry Johnson insulted his coach and the gay community on Twitter and was suspended then released.
As a Chiefs fan I have followed Larry Johnson’s career and I saw hogwash to him being washed up. Larry Johnson will give the Bengals a quality backup capable of running for 100 yards a game.
Larry Johnson was averaging only 2.9 yards per carry in 2009 with the Chiefs. But he did average 4.5 yards per carry in 2008 on the bad Chiefs team. The Chiefs are a terrible team and Johnson was keyed on.
Larry Johnson will look much better behind a Bengals offensive line and with a team that actually has a passing game. I think the Bengals picking up Larry Johnson is an excellent move by a team positioning itself for a playoff run.
When Cedric Benson was injured the Bengals didn’t stand pat. I commend them for making the move to sign Larry Johnson to help keep the team competitive. It reminds me of the Patriots signing Corey Dillon off the scrap heap a few years ago. And even farther back the Giants signing Otis Anderson years ago.
