Cleveland Browns Must Not Screw Up This Draft

April 23rd 2009 06:58
The NFL Draft is something that while I'm not very high on because it doesn't interest me doesn't mean that it should be a throwaway one in the first place. Let's face it, you never know if a guy is going to be a superstar once selected. Take this into consideration that this franchise has screwed up time and time again with the draft. Of course, that is after the results were given on the field and who was picked.

They have only five picks though that can change should the team decide to trade Braylon Edwards. My take is if you can get a decent amount of picks if you are a person who follows the draft closely and one of their Wide Receivers, by all means do it. It matters not who is the player but what will be available.

Mock drafts in general have had Curry go to the Browns or Crabtree for example. As far as a personal preference, I want one that is going to be the most effective for the team. It doesn't have to be a superstar college player, just one that can get the job done.

For the Browns to really improve, they must get players that fit in their team and what exactly is the concept to make them look like a competitive team. It isn't as if it would be out of the realm to improve after one year but who knows.

Cleveland needs to have a football team to root for without having to look like one with a paper bag over its head. The key is going to be what Mangini and Kokinis have in mind. Now, if they stay in the same position or worse, then it's time to call for their jobs and of course for Lerner to perhaps sell the team if this doesn't improve.

drafting is so huge. In this day and age if you have two good draft years in a row and sign some functional free agents who want to win and lead, you can be in the Super Bowl or in your conference final real quick. Look at the Cardinals last year... The key is stringing two or three good draft classes in a row.

True about the Cardinals. That's something I can agree with there.
