Last Night Game's Recap
September 8th 2008 12:51
Well, it's going to be time to take a look at some of the games at the beginning of the season. Remember when I wrote earlier that this was critical for Cleveland to come out of the gate strong? Well, that didn't happen at all. In fact, they looked like a team that wasn't exactly confident enough to compete. I'll talk about that in a minute. I got maybe three games that I really want to look at because those games held my interest the most.
New England vs. Kansas City: New England won, which was no surprise but that's not the story of it. As you know Tom Brady left the game with a leg injury. Now, we don't know if it is going to be a season-ending injury or could be out for a few weeks. While I know many people hate New England, this is not something you root for at all. If you want to beat New England, you want to beat them at their best with Brady at the helm. This is still a tough team and they do have Randy Moss, whom could become something great if he continues to show that he has changed his ways. At the same time, it does open the doors to see what life could be like without Brady and maybe can still survive. Could it hurt them in a Super Bowl run? Maybe but only time will tell. I will keep up to date on if Brady is going to be injured.
Cleveland vs. Dallas: Why was this a big game? Well, it was about something for Cleveland and didn't exactly live up to expectations. Anderson had a not-so great game but that can be credited to Dallas's defense. It was because Dallas simply outplayed Cleveland. Does this mean automatically that the season is in grave danger? Not necessarily but we do know a few things. One, The Browns are going to have to do a much better job against the Steelers, whom they've struggled against as of late. This one-sided affair is much like how Dallas was beating Washington on a consistent basis sometime back. Dallas is expected to be good and I think they will. I've been a bit cautious on Cleveland because it seems whenever the expectations are high for them, it becomes failure.
Houston vs. Pittsburgh: The only reason this had some interest would be because of seeing how the Steelers would do coming out of the gate and they just dismantled and pick apart the Texans. Houston was coming off an 8-8 season and saw the AFC South with no team below .500 for the first time. I do not think Houston will make the playoffs due to one factor: too many teams could make a run at it.
There are two games tonight with the Raiders and Broncos along with the Packers and Vikings. I might check them out but who knows. I know some were interested in the Jets game but I wasn't so much. Mainly it was because I heard about Favre to where it sickened me but that's another story.
Week 2 will be up and I will be previewing the Browns and Steelers game. There will be keys to that game. Stay tuned.
