Look at the Browns from 2007 to Present

April 5th 2010 15:08
Maybe it's just being near the area, but sometimes it seems like there is no dedication or a formal plan to put it together to win at all. The Cleveland Browns did put together a strong season in the 2007 season with an emergence of Derek Anderson. He gets the big contract and pulls a Kerry Collins on them by not living up to the contract. Click here for the article a few years back calling out the opinion in that it seemed like there had been little to no dedication to have them succeed.

That season, they did well but the next two have been downright embarrassing to watch. Coaching has been an issue but more so with ownership. Now, he has hired Mike Holmgren to run the team so to speak. At least, he knows football whilst Lerner doesn't and probably has never claimed to.

The Brady Quinn trade was not a surprise at all. There are some people who do believe that it was the worst decision they made but there have been worse. Click here for some thoughts on that.

As far as coaches go, if the Browns get off to a bad start, Mangini will be removed. I'm not so sure Holmgren should be the coach and the President because that's just a recipe for disaster. Jim Zorn didn't exactly succeed. It'd be like bringing Mangini back with a coach that had a losing record for the previous teams. There is Marty Mornhinweg, who didn't exactly impress anyone.

Personally, I hope they do anymore of this going the coordinator route because it hasn't worked in Cleveland. If it hasn't worked by now to get a Super Bowl, why would it work all of a sudden? That's just my opinion on that.

Final thoughts overall on this would have to do with Cleveland needs to stop screwing around and taking abuse from every team. Wanting high draft picks is like asking to be abused a lot. If they don't get it right soon, then maybe it would be a wonder if the Browns should just simply leave the NFL for good due to incompetence.
