Dave Meggett serial Rapist?
January 14th 2009 23:20
Dave Meggett the former New York Giant and New England Patriot running back is in jail in South Carolina. The charge is raping a woman in her home in Charleston South Carolina. This is the 2nd time Meggett has been charged for rape in the last 4 months according to Profootballtalk.com. On a personal note, I have a step daughter who lives about an hour from Charleston so this really made me take notice.
Meggett was on probation for a similar charge from 2006, and another incident in 1998 ended his stint with the Patriots. Of course Meggett hasn’t been convicted of these latest crimes, but I tend to think that where there is smoke, there is fire. Meggett did play 2 games for the Jets during the 1998 season.
I think the NFL and or the New England Patriots should have tried to get Meggett into some kind of treatment program if they suspected he was a rapist. There is no telling how many other women may have been victims of his.
It is a real shame that Meggett has fallen so far, from being a very popular NFL players especially with the Giants. He was known for his receiving and punt/kick return skills and as an occasional runner. Despite being only 5ft 7 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds Meggett managed over 9,000 punt and kick return yards. In his 9 year (plus 2 games with Jets) career he caught 336 passes for 3,038 yards and 11 touchdowns
Let’s hope that if Meggett really is a serial rapist like it appears that his ass gets taken off the streets and he gets some help. Of course where he is headed and being so small, he may find out how the other half of rape feels.
