Mike Holmgren coming to Cleveland thoughts
December 23rd 2009 23:29
I saw the news about it and I have to give some thoughts on it here. I really hope this works and am accepting the position of being the President of Football Operations. That means he is going to be the man in charge of making the right hires. There are so many aspects that must be addressed and hopefully will be done for this team's sake.
He must find the right GM and player personell person to take care of business. Does this mean Eric Mangini could be out of time? Not so fast. He might be willing to give him a chance to see if he can redeem himself in a sense. That means if things don't go well early into the next season, he could be fired. The main component is getting it right regardless.
If they do not do that, then it will look like Lerner once again dropped the ball. Randy Lerner has to be seriously hoping and praying that he got this right. He hasn't made too many good decisions. The fact remains that they have been terrible.
I think it is an interesting hire and hope for the best on that. For the Browns sake, this better work or there will be many more games with a threat of being blacked out next season and beyond. There is a loyalty and even that can be challenged. His decisions from this point forward are going to be judged and then only time will tell if he is turning this team around or it is more of the same.
