Is Michael Vick headed for Arena Football?
April 28th 2009 20:10
If Michael Vick can get reinstated in professional football, at least one team will take a chance on the controversial quarterback.
An Arena Football franchise, the Albany Firebirds is prepared to offer a one year contract at the league standard of $200 a week plus a $50 bonus for a win. This contract comes with an interesting stipulation. The offer requires that Vick donate $100,000 to a local humane society. Let's see-- $200 a week vs. $100,000. You do the math. Let's hope Vick has some money stashed away.
For those of you new to the controversy, Vick was quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons for six seasons before being convicted of involvement in an interstate dog fighting operation. He is currently serving prison time for that offense but will soon be released to home confinement.

Highly doubt NFL takes him back. There's only one team that probably would as they're prone to taking the rejects with backgrounds. Too much bad publicity about letting Vick play on a team.
Hope he's not allowed back.

Back to the NFL reinstatment - we've gone here before. My view is the man has paid for his crimes - he's been sentenced by the United States of America, and paid his dues/served his time. How can the NFL punish him above and beyond that?
Should the NFL reinstate him? Absolutely. Our justice system exists to help people - not ruin lives.
Now finding a team that will sign him... that's a different story.
