My NFL predictions for week 6
October 5th 2008 05:32
Hey Football Fans,
I know that I am normally a college football blogger on this site, but after I didn't do terribly on my college football picks this week, I decided to try my hand at picking this week's NFL games...so here goes nothing:
Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys: If Ocho Cinco gets is able to kiss the star after a touchdown...then the Cowboys will get to marry it after this schellacking
Cincy 14 Dallas 31
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Denver Broncos: Despite the QB controversy, the Bucs are 3-1. The Broncos, with star in the making Jay Cutler are also 3-1. I give Tampa the edge here because they are better defensively.
Tampa 24 Denver 20
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions: Let the post-Millen era begin!!! The Lions give their fans a reason to cheer in their first victory of the season as well as within football's worst division.
Chicago 7 Detroit 24
Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers: What a difference a year makes. Durability used to never be an issue in Green Bay when it came to quarterbacks. I do think Aaron Rodgers will play...but it won't matter, Atlanta is not ready for this big of a stage regardless of who is behind center for the Pack.
Atlanta 14 Green Bay 27
San Diego Chargers at Miami Dolphins: I still can't figure the Chargers out. One week they destroy the Jets, the next the just barely scrape out a win over the hapless Raiders. I predict they get their act together this week just enough to squeak by against the better than expected Dolphins
Chargers 21 Dolphins 17
Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants: Why do people still doubt the Giants? All they have done since their Super Bowl win is play consistently good football. Couple that with a Seattle team that is on a sharp decline and this pick isn't so difficult.
Seahawks 10 Giants 28
Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles: Over the past three weeks, the Redskins have been the best team in football. The Eagles had a hiccup last week against an inferior Bears team. This one is tough to call, but I predict that McNabb finds a way to beat a division rival.
Redskins 14 Eagles 17
Buffalo Bills at Arizona Cardinals: The Bills are 4-0 and Trent Edwards has emerged as a solid NFL quarterback. The Cardinals were embarassed last week and are still dealing with the devistating injury to Anquin Boldin. However if last week was any indication, than Edwards and Marshawn Lynch are able to get the W.
Buffalo 21 Arizona 14
New England Patriots at San Francisco 49ers: Even though they don't have Tom Brady...New England does not lose 2 in a row...EVER
NE 31 SF 21
Kansas City Chiefs at Carolina Panthers: Kansas City enjoyed a string of good fortune last week in their upset of Denver...their luck will run out this time.
KC 7 Carolina 24
Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars: This is the most inrtiguing game of the weekend. At full strength, the Steelers are the better team, but that is not the case with all of the nagging injuries at important positions for the black and gold. Also the Jags are starting to get their groove back.
Pitt 14 Jax 28
Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens: Baltimore is being lead by a rookie from Delaware, that should make this pick easy...if the Ravens weren't 2-1. Tennessee was impressive in their win vs Minnesota last week. They will impress again this week, but when it comes to a game that will be a defensive battle...I will never bet against Ray Lewis.
Tennessee 6 Baltimore 10
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans: There could not be more emotion in this game. The Texans return to Houston for the first time since Hurricane Ike. They will be running on pure adrenaline against a Colts team that has been on a head scratching decline. However I feel that Peyton will be able to get the job done.
Indianapolis 21 Houston 20
Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints: I will be watching this game with the sound off...I just can't stand Kornheiser...No team is more banged up than the Saints. There are injuries to Colston, Shockey, Sedrick Ellis, among others. I just feel that in this battle of mediocrity, the Vikings find a way to steal a much needed win
Minnesota 27 NO 24
Those are my picks for this week. Like with my college picks, if you disagree and want to discuss, drop me a line at Really Long Link
See you next week
