Playoff Possiblities

December 30th 2009 17:36
Well, here comes the final week and still playoff spots being decided. The NFC has all the playoff teams, it is going to come down to seeding. Minnesota has pushed themselves pretty much to the #3 seed unless something happens. Philadelphia and Dallas are fighting for the division and could see one of them getting the #2 seed but that is about it on that. It will be interesting to see what actually happens with this. New Orleans has the #1 seed due to the Vikings losing and have been on a losing trend as of late. The #4 seed is going to go to Arizona by default. The last two spots will go to Green Bay and the loser of the Dallas/Philadelphia game.

It would be wise for New Orleans to not rest the final week. It would be best to play that game with the starters and attempt to get another win because they have a bye and will begin in the NFC Divisional playoffs.

The AFC, though, is another story. The Colts are #1 and does have home field throughout but may get themselves a bit too relaxed and too conservative. They rested the starters in the second half against the Jets and lost. They showed that they do not care at all but can be considered a bad omen for things to come. The Chargers have the #2 seed locked up as well with a bye to the divisional playoffs. It would be wise to play the starters that game because it could turn around and bite them.

The Benglas and Patriots both claimed the division. However, securing the last two playoff spots has proven to go down to the wire. The Ravens and Jets are in the driver's seat and could get in by winning games. Teams with a slim chance include the Broncos, who by the way choked big time and had a chance to make the playoffs, Steelers, and Texans. The Titans, Dolphins, and Jaguars have little to no chance of making it looking at their records. It would have to be luck to get in.

There are possibilities but it may be the Ravens and Jets getting in unless something happens.
