Footballdogz.com power rankings

The Giants are better than the Titans
Here are the much anticipated (yeah right) Footballdogz.com NFL power rankings after week 11 of the 2008 season. I am going against the norm a little here by putting an undefeated team in 2nd place but hear me out.

1 The New York Giants with only one loss to the Cleveland Browns (what the Hell?) the defending Super Bowl Champions are still number one in my book. With a great defense and 3 running backs averaging over 5 yards per carry, the 2008 Giants are built for the playoffs. And the Giants have something that the Titans do not. They can make big plays in the passing game.

2 The Tennessee Titans have a great defense and a solid running game. And to give them their due they are undefeated. But their lack of a big play passing game may come back to bite them in the buttocks. Kerry Collins is a solid veteran quarterback for the Titans but he isn’t going to win a shootout. I would like to see them work Vince Young into the game plan as a Slash type of player for big play possibilities. Granted Collins did throw 3 touchdowns against the Jaguars but I don’t see him doing it every week.

3 The Carolina Panthers have won 4 straight to obtain their 8-2 record after week 11 of the 2008 season. A solid defense and improving running game gets them the 3rd spot on our NFL Power Rankings. A dual threat of rookie Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams at running back bodes well for the Panthers.

4 The Arizona Cardinals (no I don’t smoke crack). The Cards can light up any defense with a resurrected Kurt Warner and 3 great wide receivers. Their defense is acceptable and if they can keep developing Tim Hightower at RB they are a tough team to beat.

5 The Indianapolis Colts seem to be improving after a slow start and have won 3 games in a row. Never ever count out a team with Peyton Manning at quarterback and in what is probably Tony Dungy’s last year.

6 The Pittsburg Steelers keep finding a way to win even though their offensive line clearly hates Big Ben. A good running game and a really great defense could make the Steelers real players in cold weather playoff games.

7 The New York Jets may have crossed a mental hump when they knocked off the Patriots. Brett Favre has toned down on the interceptions and is playing well. But the best trade the Jets made in 2008 was for Kris Jenkins who is a beast on the defensive line.

8 The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have quietly come into week 12 of the 2008 NFL season with a 7 and 3 record. They spanked the Panthers earlier this season but sometimes don’t see to show up for games. Look for Cadillac Williams to return sometime soon and help an already great running attack.

9 The New England Patriots may have lost to the Jets but they are doing a great job during a tough season. Tom Brady being out for the year and fighting injures at running back but still having a winning record, says much for this football team.

10 The Dallas Cowboys showed some fortitude in winning must have games against Tampa and Washington. Having Tony Romo back will at least make this offense dangerous again. However keeping Romo off the ground with a bad offensive line will be the trick.

I know it was just one game but in the Dallas-Washington Dallas was like a different team with Romo!

Yeah it sure made a difference having him there.
