NFL power rankings

Welcome to my NFL power rankings for week 9 of the 2009 NFL season. I will rank the teams from worst to first and tell you why. If for some odd reason you don’t agree with my week 9 NFL power rankings then please leave a comment below.
32 The worst team in the NFL is of course the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They rank last on my week 9 NFL power rankings. The team purged some high priced veterans and hired a kid to coach them.
31 The Detroit Lions went winless in 2008 and at least won’t let that happen again. Giving the Rams their first win puts the Lions in at 31.
30 The Cleveland Browns have the worst coaching staff in the NFL and to a man they should be fired.
29 The Saint Louis Rams finally got their first victory but it was over the Lions so does it really count?
28 Kansas City has woes on both sides of the ball and their best running back has been suspended (again) this time for slurs he made. Coach Todd Haley seems to want to throw fits and not coach on the sidelines.
27 Oakland needs a quarterback and a coach who can control his temper. The Raiders have the talent to win 6 games or more this season, but they won’t.
26 The Washington Redskins have embarrassed their head coach and what was a fine franchise before the current owner bought in.
25 The Buffalo Bills thought T.O. could save them but he has a case of the drops and the team has little talent.
24 The Tennessee Titans are too good to only be 1-6 and I expect Vince Young to make them respectable.
23 Seattle looked good on paper to me before the season but can’t stay healthy for anything. Their 2-5 record is still a little surprising to me.
22 The Carolina Panthers had a great season in 2008 but dropped to the turd pile in 2009. Jake Delhomme has been terrible until they beat the Cardinals, and then he was injured. In the tough NFC South, the Panthers will be lucky to win 6 games.
21 Jacksonville is as hot and cold as any team in the league. Questionable coaching decisions have them ranked 22 in my week 9 NFL power rankings.
20 The San Diego Chargers are always a great team on paper then can’t get anything done. A habit with Norv Turner coached teams. They recently cut Chris Chambers to save money.
19 San Francisco shows some good play now that Alex Smith has returned to the quarterback spot. But they also disappear in some games. If Frank Gore could stay healthy they would rise in the power rankings.
18 The Atlanta Falcons were supposed to be elite but have not shown me that so far. Despite Tony Gonzalez opening lanes, the running game is not doing well. If they make the playoffs, their defense will let them down.
17 The New York Jets are the best team in the NFL, just ask them. Too bad bragging does not equal wins.
16 The Miami Dolphins lost some early then have rallied to show up and play hard in every game. Not sure they have the talent for the playoffs but their Wildcat seems to work.
15 The Houston Texans may have discovered a running game to go with a very good passing offense. Ryan Moats and the defense will determine their power rank in the future.
14 The Arizona Cardinals went to the Super Bowl last year, but they won’t this year. Dropping a turnover filled game to the Panthers showed this team’s true colors.
13 Green Bay can score but their defense is still getting used to the 3-4 under Dom Capers. 2 losses to Brett Favre and the Vikings show this team isn’t quite there yet.
12 The Chicago Bears play hot and cold and need their running game to take off if they want to make the playoffs.
11 The Baltimore Ravens dropped a couple they shouldn’t have and are winning with offense instead of that great defense. They should be a playoff team when it is all said and done but they are not as good as last year’s team.
10 The New York Giants have fallen far but I still rank them 10th in my week 9 NFL power rankings. Eli Manning needs to get his crap together though, and the defense isn’t as good as I thought it would be for the Giants in 2009.
9 Cincinnati beats the big boys and loses to teams they shouldn’t. I like them but need to see more for a higher ranking.
8 Philadelphia finally has a playmaker in DeSean Jackson that can score anytime he touches the ball. Only a stupid loss to the Raiders keeps the Eagles out of my top 5.
7 Dallas looked rough early but Miles Austin has lit a spark under Romo and the offense. The Dallas Cowboys defense is also playing better.
6 The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost their running game and need to find it before cold weather. I picked the Steelers to go to the Super Bowl before the season but that pick is starting to look bad.
5 The New England Patriots are showing some age on defense but Tom Brady seems to have recovered from his injury of last season. They just need a little more in the running game on offense.
4 The Denver Broncos were undefeated until taking on the Ravens. This team has been winning on defense and a decent offense, can they keep it up?
3 Minnesota brought in a savior in Brett Favre and so far it is working. I don’t think he can keep up the pace for 16 games though. The defense is decent but banged up and Adrian Peterson is well Adrian Peterson.
2 Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts are undefeated but their running game is terrible and it will catch up with them. Still they rank 2nd on my week 9 NFL power rankings.
1 The New Orleans Saints are the best team in the NFL. The Saints boast an explosive but balanced offense. Defensive coordinator Greg Williams has the defense playing well enough in most games. Darren Sharper has 3 interception returns for touchdowns already in 2009.
