Top 5 fantasy quarterbacks in 2009

This article is about the top 5 2009 fantasy football quarterbacks as I see them. Who the hell am I? You ask. Well I am one of the most viewed sports writers on this website, I run Footballdogz.com and I have a sports column for a local newspaper. I have been an avid fantasy football player for over 20 years and love anything about pro football. All stats for the top 5 2009 fantasy football quarterbacks come from NFL.com.
1 Drew Brees is the top fantasy quarterback heading into the 2009 season. In 2008 Drew Brees attempted an amazing 635 passes and completed 413 of them. Brees threw for 5.069 passing yards and 34 touchdowns. New Orleans will throw the ball all over the yard and Drew's durability makes him a top fantasy quarterback. With the release of Deuce McAlister look for even more passing from the New Orleans Saints. Reggie Bush can't carry a full load as a runner.
2 Peyton Manning should never be counted out and don't expect low numbers from him this season. Losing Marvin Harrison won't hurt the Colts offense much and if they can add some offensive line help, Peyton Manning will do well. You can expect Manning to pass for 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns or better in 2009.
3 Tom Brady is back and if he is healthy then he would probably be number one on the top 10 fantasy football quarterbacks. But we don't know for sure that Tom Brady has recovered from his 2008 injury. The Patriots must think Tom Brady is fine or they wouldn't have traded Matt Cassel to the Chiefs.
4 Phillip Rivers is steadily improving with each NFL season that he plays. With Darren Sproles to be a bigger part of the offense look for some easy big plays that he busts from short passes for Rivers. The Chargers will always be a run first team with Ladainian Tomlinson but he is being phased out. Phillip Rivers threw 34 touchdown passes in 2008 with limited receivers.
5 Kurt Warner hasn't been forgotten by me or by father time. He is a year older and I don't expect the Cardinals to have as good a year as last season. Kurt Warner is a top fantasy football quarterback in part due to his wide receivers. I am not sure I have ever seen a team with two as good as Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. But don't look for the same type of season out of Warner in 2009.
