Questions The Browns Need To Answer
March 10th 2009 06:39
Let's not kid ourselves, The Cleveland Browns need to seriously figure out what type of game plan they are going to have going into the next season. The expectations are not going to be high and that can be good as it is possible to fly under the radar surprising everyone. How a schedule is made seems to be a luck of the draw in my opinion. It matters not if it is against tough or easy opponents, but results on showing what you can do as a unit can be a benefit. Now, there are questions that must be answered.
1) Who is going to be the starter for sure? Right now, the guess would be Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson would be the back-up. Perhaps the Quarterback competition will actually be a benefit because we need to know who gives them the best chance and results matter. One thing we do know, it won't be Ken Dorsey. Should they trade either one, they had better be prepared to find a back-up and a 3rd string guy.
2) Can this team seriously stay healthy? Is it just me or do the Browns get injured too easily? Injuries are apart of the game and I understand that, but seriously it happens so often in Cleveland. Do these players not come in prepared to play or just simply have lousy equipment? This needs to be fixed rather quickly so we do not have to see it happen again.
3) Will Braylon catch the ball? No one knows until the season begins and I'd like to think that it was simply a bad year. Nevermind the Michigan talk, if you don't perform, you're going to get booed regardless of what college you come from. All he's got to do is get his ego in check and be ready to play.
4) Is the defense going to improve? I don't care much about who they draft in the NFL Draft but just some players who can do their part and keep the opposition from getting too many yards and stopping teams from scoring. That is much more important than trying to get the flavor of the month.
5) Can this team improve quickly? If you can see the Dolphins go from 1 win to 11, then it is possible for any team to do so. 8-8 at this point would be acceptable considering what has happened to this poor franchise.
There are too many questions but these are ones I want to see answered the most based upon right now without anymore major trades.

• Each team plays home and away against its three division opponents, which accounts for six games on the schedule.
• Each team plays four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating three-year cycle, which accounts for four more games.
• Each team plays four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating four-year cycle, which accounts for another four games.
• Each team plays two intraconference games based on the prior year's standings. For example, the first-place team in a division will play against the first-place team from another division within the same conference. The second place team in a division will play against the second-place team from another division within the same conference, etc...
