Raiders to fire coach
September 22nd 2008 21:35
Shocking isn't it? Well no not really but ESPN's Chris Mortensen is
reporting that Lane Kiffin may be fired as early as today. Kiffin didn't last two seasons and has been feuding with Raider owner Al Davis and Davis's wench defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
Kiffin had wanted to fire Ryan earlier this season bur Davis declined to do so. Then he went and told Ryan about it. Naturally this caused bad feelings between Ryan and Kiffin. Ryan apparently is Al Davis’s yes man and will probably get the head coaching job.
Not many coaches will take the job as Davis has a history of a quick trigger in firing them. Plus Al thinks he knows more football than anyone else and that his system can’t fail.
If Al Davis wants another Super Bowl before he dies he needs to let somebody run the football operation and keep his ass out of the way. I would hire somebody from the Patriots organization to be the general manager. I would then go after Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson to be my head coach. Offering him lots and lots of money to entice him into the job.
But Al Davis would rather have complete control than to “Just win baby”.
