Troublesome Jeremy Shockey is somebody else’s problem now. The New Orleans Saints have taken over that chore from the New York Giants. The Saints traded a 5th and a 6th round pick (next year) for the gifted but mouthy tight end.
It is difficult to let go of a talent like Jeremy Shockey but when they become such a distraction it is time to cut them loose. The fact that the Saints were willing to give up 2 draft picks for him, shows they hold him in high regard for now at least.
If Shockey gets his crap together and decides to play hard, he is a force. And he is at the age where it occurs to guys that they need to calm down if they want to stay in the league. I think he may decide he has something to prove. If he does the Saints just got better, much better. Drew Brees is a very accurate quarterback and he will be able to take full advantage of Jeremy’s skills.
So it could be a win for both sides or if the old Shockey shows up in New Orleans, then the Giants really got them good. I for one would love to see him do well and shut the hell up, and just play.
