Steve Smith may need a big shovel

I live in North Carolina and relatively close to Charlotte, and the sports radio station I listen to, is out of the Queen City. All they can talk about is the Steve Smith, Ken Lucas fight.
Turns out it wasn’t much of a fight, Smith sucker punched him, breaking his nose. Lucas was on one knee and wasn’t wearing a helmet. Smith walked up and hit him twice, and Lucas apparently did not fight back.
Lucas says he has forgiven Steve Smith partly for religious reasons, partly for the good of the team. He also indicated that he could have injured Smith badly if he had fought back. I tend to believe he could and chose not to.
Steve Smith injured the team and himself enough as it is. He has been suspended for the first two regular season games. The Panthers even with Smith are outgunned against the Chargers. Without him it is a probable loss, they may beat the Bears in the second game, but could easily be 0-2 when Smith returns.
The Panthers are already battling a rash of injures at receiver and defensive back. Chris Gamble and Chris Harris are hurt on defense. With Jarrett and Hackett injured at the wide out position. When the Panthers get healthy and get Smith back, they will probably have a good team. But if they start 0-2 it will be a deep hole to dig out of. I hope Steve Smith has a big shovel if that is the case.
