AFC South Preview
August 31st 2008 23:02
Footballdogz.com will now review the AFC South Division of the NFL. Oddly enough the team that will win this division AND the Super Bowl is not even in the South.
The Indianapolis Colts are going to win this division despite some competition from Jacksonville. I think the Colts are hungry in what may be Tony Dungy’s last season before retirement. If Peyton Manning can return from his injury the Colts will finish 13-3 and win the AFC South in 2008. I also think they will win the Super Bowl if Manning stays healthy.
Jacksonville Jaguars are a team on the rise but just not quite there yet. A very potent running game and defense will get them a Wild Card Spot. But the passing game isn’t up to snuff to make them an elite team.
The Houston Texans will take 3rd in the AFC South and will be a team to watch next year. They have the best wide receiver in the game that nobody talks about in Johnson. One more full season in Gary Kubiack’s West Coast Offense will prepare them for a deep playoff run next year. I think they will finish 10-6 and be in the running for a wild card spot.
The Tennessee Titans are a team in decline despite the very good Vince Young. The return of Jevon Kearse won’t help a defense in decline. Vince Young is learning a new system and has few offensive weapons at his disposal. I think that coach Jeff Fisher may be on the hot seat after this season is over
