The Arena Football League is alive and well

There is football being played and there are no lockouts in the AFL. I am not talking about the old American Football League but instead it’s the Arena Football League. Recently I have been watching the Arena League on the NFL Network on Friday Nights.
Arena Football isn’t exactly like the NFL but it’s a real version of football, and if you like scoring then this is the league for you. The teams play on half a field and have rules set up to help teams score often which is exciting to most football fans.
What I like about Arena Football is that it’s very fan friendly with a charged up atmosphere and the tickets don’t cost you your first born. So you can take the kids out to see an exciting brand of football at an affordable cost.
I spoke with Spokane Shock owner Brady Nelson via Twitter about the Arena Football League. Mr. Nelson told me his team embraced the fact that their league is different from the NFL and led the AFL in attendance. Mr. Nelson also touted that the league has something for everyone. "The Arena Football League's goal is to provide the best dollar for dollar entertainment value for our fans” was a direct quote from Mr. Nelson
Playing on half a field and with many players going on offense and defense the AFL certainly is different from football as you may know it. And the players in the Arena Football League are playing football because they love it and for the chance that it would open a door to the NFL which while rare does happen. Kurt Warner is the most notable former AFL player to make it to the NFL but there have been a few others.
For the die hard NFL is king type fan the Arena League may not cut it. But for casual fans the AFL may be very exciting and I bet there are some fans that prefer it to the “real thing” For people like myself it is a fun alternative while the millionaires and billionaires fight it out over who will win the NFL labor talks.
