The Panthers should trade Steve Smith

The Carolina Panthers should trade wide receiver Steve Smith for several reasons. First because the Panthers owe Steve Smith the chance to play for a winner which the team has no interest in being themselves.
Steve Smith worked his way from a returner into a top NFL wide receiver and left it all on the field. Even when mad at the team he wanted to win and didn’t have alligator arms like a Randy Moss who often gives no effort on plays. On a passing team with a good quarterback Steve Smith would be a Hall of Fame player. Instead he got stuck with Jake Delhomme and Jimmy Clausen who were terrible the last two years. Delhomme at his best was an average NFL quarterback.
The Panthers should also trade Steve Smith because he is going to be a distraction if he is not traded. The media will be all over this and Smith will make waves even if he does play hard. It is an ugly thing when Steve Smith is angry, just ask WFNZ producer T-Bone.
The Panthers are starting over with Cam Newton and a bunch of young wide receivers. Steve Smith being on the field means less playing time for one of the young guys. Trading Smith gives the Panthers more opportunity to see what they have.
Lastly the Panthers need draft picks to recoup from the worst trade in franchise history when they traded for Armanti Edwards who is going to bust at wide receiver. Smith wants to play for Baltimore or San Diego and either team would probably trade at least a third round pick for Smith.
