Sports on Twitter

Sports on Twitter are discussed by thousands of people per day. You can talk to fans of various sports or teams, as well as follow verified pro athletes on Twitter. You can follow my main Twitter account here or just the Footballdogz.com Twitter account here.
One of the coolest internet experiences I have had was when former Bengal defensive lineman John Thornton replied to some of my football questions on Twitter. Clicking his name in the previous sentence takes you to his Twitter page.
Now most current or former NFL players will not reply to the average sports fan on Twitter so don’t get your hopes up to high. Although former players seem more likely to. John Hannah and Jake Reed have replied to me from their Twitter accounts in the past.
I love talking sports and politics on Twitter but use it as much to advertise my writing as anything else. If you want to promote a blog or website Twitter is a great place to do that. I recommend reading this article on how to promote things on Twitter before you start doing that however.
If you do join Twitter to try to talk to pro athletes be warned there are lots of fake accounts there. Some celebrity Twitter accounts are verified by Twitter but some are not. The best way to tell if a sports Twitter account is real is to see who they follow. Football players in particular don’t follow many people and those people are other NFL players and hot women!
