Another upstart?

The way it looks now, another professional football league will have its inaugural season this month. The California Redwoods will be taking on the Las Vegas Locomotives Oct. 8, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada for the inaugural game of the United Football League
Presently, the new league's four teams are the Las Vegas Locomotives, California Redwoods. Florida Tuskers, and New York Senteniels with the possibly of adding more teams
Some people see the new league as a developmental organization for the NFL. Others have been kinder and call it a competitor to the NFL. One thing is certain, it will take a lot of doing to become a true competitor and regain the glory days of the old American Football League
With the championship being played Nov. 27, this first season is definitely being sandwiched into NFL time. Further, games will be played Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday leaving the weekend for college and the NFL.
If media exposure is any measure of legitimacy, setting up shop in a high profile area like Los Angeles, as hoped, could only help. Along those lines, the league has obtained a television contract with the Versus network.
Okay football junkies--now you have the NFL, Arena Football, and now the UFL!
