UNC Football's Nannygate

August 29th 2010 11:58
The University of North Carolina faces some embarrassment and probable NCAA sanctions due to their football team. Some are dubbing it “Nannygate” after allegations of a former nanny of Coach Butch Davis writing papers for some football players.

Earlier this year the UNC football team came under fire for several players attending a party that may have violated NCAA rules because of who paid for them to attend. The University of North Carolina reported academic violations to the NCAA and sent several defensive starters to the scout team.

Coach Butch Davis was thought to be the man to finally make North Carolina relevant in football, and he has. But as a UNC fan I can tell you his days are numbered. It took many years for the University to appear to care about football and they may never again due to this embarrassment. As you can see here North Carolina is a college basketball state and UNC in particular cares mostly about that sport. You can read here about the UNC basketball tradition.
