Week 3 NFL game picks

September 27th 2009 11:13
Welcome to my week 3 NFL game predictions, and yes I really sucked in week 2. With only the Monday Night game left in week two of the 2009 NFL season I have missed 9 picks. However that does make my 2009 NFL prediction record 19-12 so far.

These week 3 NFL game predictions include the score but not a point spread. My pro football game picks are suitable for an office pool. I feel that now in week 3 of the 2009 NFL season I have a better feel for the teams and should do a good job. If injuries or something in the Monday night game change one of my week 3 NFL game picks, I will update in the comments section below.

Kansas City at Philadelphia

The Chiefs are not quite there yet and their head coach melts down on the sidelines too much. As of this writing Donovan McNabb isn't expected to play in week 3 of the 2009 NFL season. I think the Eagles veteran team will pull off the win and also you will see Michael Vick for a few plays. Eagles 17, Chiefs 7.

Green Bay at St. Louis

The Packers lost to the Bengals in a big upset in week 2. The Rams held the Redskins close but lost. My week 3 NFL game prediction is that the Packers beat the Rams 24 to 14.

San Francisco at Minnesota

The 49ers are playing very well and bring the NFL's 3rd best rushing defense in to take on Adrian Peterson and the Vikings. However the 49ers rank 22nd against the pass so far in 2009. Brett Favre should be in as good of shape as he will get for the Vikings. At this time it is unclear how injured Frank Gore (ankle) is for the 49ers. It is close but I will go with the home team, Vikings 24, 49ers 17.

Cleveland at Baltimore

The Browns have the worst coaching staff in the NFL and one of the worst teams. Baltimore is 2-0 and looked real good against the Chargers. Ravens 28 Browns 10.

New York Giants at Tampa Bay

I am not as down on the Bucs as some fans but I don't think they have much for the Giants. My week 3 NFL office pool pick is the Giants will win 21 to 13.

Jacksonville at Houston

As you can read here both of these coaches are on the hot seat and fighting for their jobs. Both teams also had impressive victories in week two. Houston uses home field advantage to defeat Jacksonville, 24 to 14.

Tennessee at New York Jets

This is a hard game to pick, the Titans have played worse than they are and the Jets are playing better than they are. This should be a hard hitting team and look for rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez to struggle against the Titans. But the Jets win at home 17 to 14.

Atlanta at New England

Atlanta looked good in beating a flat Carolina Panthers team. New England lost to the Jets last week. I just can't see the Patriots losing two in a row though. New England 28, Atlanta 24, as Tom Brady has a good day against a suspect secondary.

Washington at Detroit

This is it Lions fans! The Skins look flat on offense but do have a nice defense. The Detroit Lions have looked ok in two losses so far. My week 3 of the 2009 NFL season upset prediction is Detroit 17, Washington 14.

Chicago at Seattle

I had high hopes for the Seahawks this season but they are not playing very well. Jay Cutler is the real deal for the Bears. But look for Matt Forte to put 140 yards rushing and 2 scores on a bad Seahawks run defense. Chicago 24, Seattle 14.

New Orleans at Buffalo

I like the Bills, but not against this high flying offense of the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees. New Orleans 31 Buffalo 17.

Miami at San Diego

Phillip Rivers is the best quarterback in the NFL that nobody talks about. However the Chargers are pretty banged up. Miami is playing on Monday Night (this is written on Mon morning) so I have only seen them once. My week 3 NFL office pool pick is with the home team. Chargers 20, Dolphins 13.

Pittsburgh at Cincinnati

The Bengals have a pretty decent defense and Carson Palmer is back and healthy. Big Ben is in mortal peril due to his offensive line. The Steelers are coming off an upset in Chicago and the Bengals upset the Packers. Due to this being a divisional game there is dislike for each other. I like the Bengals at home to upset the Steelers 17 to 14.

Denver at Oakland

Two teams in disarray but coming off wins. I am starting to like Oakland's defense and JaMarcus Russell is showing signs of being a good 4th quarter quarterback. I like Oakland at home to be Denver 21 to 14.

Indianapolis at Arizona

The Cardinals stunk up the join in week one and played well in week two. I have only seen the Colts once so far this season so its hard to judge them yet. Take the home team Arizona to beat the Colts, 27 to 24.

Carolina at Dallas

Jake Delhomme bounced back from a terrible week one game and played well in a loss to Atlanta. The Panthers are just flat and have no heart this year. Dallas gets a win in the new stadium, 31 to 21.

I hope you enjoy my week 3 game picks for the 2009 NFL season. Remember look for updates in the comments on this page.
